After watching Will, Ben, and Dad Vaughn all out in the back yard over Memorial Day weekend, Kristina REALLY needed some girl time. Jennifer and the girls showed up, just in time.

Elle and Dagny became best friends over the course of the weekend. There was much sadness when they were parted.

When we headed out to the mall, we saw these guys standing on top of one of the buildings and thought "gee, wonder what's going on that they would be standing around checking stuff out like that"...

As soon as we got out on the national mall, the President joined us. He showed up with a trio of these giant helicopters, while agents watched from various buildings around the mall. One chopper landed at the white house while the other two circled close by.

Shortly after the President arrived, he put a good word in for us with the National Mall Park Services people, and they quickly ushered us into the line to go up the Washington Monument, even though we didn't have tickets, and the tickets were all gone by 8AM that morning. It's good to have connections... Here's the White House from atop the Washington Monument. Thanks W.

Looking out over the Lincoln Memorial and the reflecting pool from the Washington Monument. The glass was a little dirty, so you'll have to forgive the fuzzy spots.

Zoomed in on the Lincoln Memorial from the Washington Monument.

The Jefferson Memorial from the top of the Washington Monument.

The Senate and Smithsonian Museums from the top of thw Washington Monument.

The Senate!

Kristina, Jennifer, and the girls, at the base of the Washington Monument.

We caught the Tourmobile Bus (very highly recommended if you want to see the sights in DC quickly) and rode it over to the Jefferson Memorial. Here you can see good old Tom standing in there, facing the White House, in a tip of the hat to his politician ways. (Or something like that - I was only 1/2 way paying attention on the tram.)

The gang, out in front of the Jefferson Memorial, with the Washington Monument in the background.

More black helicopters, although considerably smaller than the one the Prez was in. I'm guessing Barney was in this one.

Inside the Jefferson Memorial.

More inside the Jefferson Memorial.

Another quick bus ride and we're at the Lincoln Memorial

Inside the Lincoln Memorial. The tourmobile guide pointed out that Lincoln's hands are forming an "A" and an "L" in American sign language. The sculpter was deaf, and wanted to leave a lasting mark.

We spend a long time staring at this thing, looking for the supposed typo in the text. We didn't find it.

Here's another view of the Lincoln Memorial, showing off his hands a little better.

I'm not exactly sure what this is a picture of, but it was in the Lincoln Memorial.

Turns out the typo is on THIS wall, not the other one. It's in the first column, and has been sort of "corrected" with fill. "Euture" versus "Future" but you have to have a good eye to see it.

Here's the Washington Monument (yes, again) this time from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, across the reflecting pool.

Across from the Vietnam Memorial.

At the Vietnam Memorial.

We all hang out waiting for the Tourmobile. Good times on Constitution Ave.

I'm not exactly sure what this is, but it was on the way back to the White House from the Vietnam Memorial, shot from inside the tour bus.

Another shot of the "back door" of the white house, courtesy of the TourMobile.

The Hotel Washington, in all it's glory. (I think)
