Severity Level 1 - Site Down!
![]() Some of our loyal readers may have noticed that VaughnNet experienced a total site outage spanning the weekend and much of today. We understand that you've come to count on VaughnNet for all of your Vaughn news and gossip, and that you expect better from us. Or at least from Will, who supposedly does "computer stuff" for a living and shouldn't be subject to the same computer mishaps that plague mere mortals. Luckily there's a good excuse that doesn't involve sheer ineptitude on either Will or Kristina's part - our hosting provider (www.1and1.com) executed an "upgrade" on the server hosting VaughnNet, and the result was a little underwhelming. Being sort of "in the biz" Will has some sympathy for this unfortunate event, and has two observations: 1) The customer support for 1 and 1 was pleasant, courteous, yet completely useless, and 2) In spite of the lengthy down time, they didn't loose any data. 1) was sort of expected, especially given the class of service your meager donations afford us, but 2) was a pleasant surprise. Not a ringing endorsement by any means, but how much can you really expect the day after a 3 day outage, when we were trying to get news of the new additions to the family out to the world. *** UPDATE *** www.1and1.com has contacted us about the outage, provided a fairly detailed, completely plausible timeline of events, explained what they are doing to ensure it doesn't happen again, and issued a three month credit to the VaughnNet account (more than we've ever gotten from our loyal readers I might add...) to make up for the trouble. Now THAT's customer service. You won't be seeing VaughnNet changing providers in the near future.

Its a Girl! ...er, TWO Girls.
![]() Yes, Will and Kristina missed their chance to have baby 300 million in the good old US of A, but that didn't stop us from trying. While our timing was a little off, it looks like our trying paid off double! We are happy to announce we are expecting twin girls around March of next year. For those of you who missed the not-so-subtle hints in the past several posts to go check out the photo gallery, here's a strong whack on the head - THERE'S PHOTOS OF THE BABIES IN THE GALLERY!!! But wait, there's more - in the coming days you can look forward to the all important "belly shot" showing our progress, and the even MORE important "fashion show" demonstrating all the adorably cute baby clothes we've collected so far. You'll be making stupid cooing noises and getting all misty eyed before you know it.

Will and Kristina Go to NYC
![]() Yes, that's the Empire State Building. Yes, Will took pictures of it with his very own bare hands. No, there's no giant gorilla climbing up the side of it. Kristina's in NYC for the NAVA conference, and Will's there to take pictures. There's plenty of them in the gallery, along a couple of other surprises should you care to browse over that way. We took a trip over to Ground Zero, we saw the statue of liberty, and we took some fairly crappy pictures of the Rockafeller Tower. So anyway, you may have noticed that VaughnNet has been devoid of new content for a while. There's a reason for that - between Finetre selling, and that whole other thing alluded to in Paragraph 2, things have been pretty crazy around here. We'll be in touch soon with more updates and while you're waiting, feel free to peruse the gallery.

The Gallmeyer-inlaws Come to Town.
Hank and Carolyn popped in for a weekend visit and brought some company - Lisa and Aunt Elaine. A good time was had by all at our two main outings - there's pictures in the gallery, but we spend some quality time at the zoo, with a side trip to a Lebanise resturaunt, and then the following day at the Waterford Festival (which incidentally has nothing to do with the crystal).
As usual, there's plenty of photographic documentation and commentary in the Gallery but really, who wants to see more pictures of the Panda? Ok, apparently everyone. Anyway, enjoy. |
